Non-blanchable erytherma of intact skin, the heralding lesion of skin ulceration. In individuals with darker skin, discoloration of the skin, warmth, edema, indurations or hardness may also be indicators.
Standard Treatment Protocols:
- Gently cleanse site, rinse and pat dry. If skin is dry, apply a moisturizing lotion.
- If skin does not appear dry and you are unable to relieve all sources of pressure, friction or moisture, apply Skin Prep to the discolored area and let dry.
- Hydrocolloid or Transparent Film Dressings can also be used to protect the wound from further injury.
- Take active measures to reduce or eliminate pressure at the wound site.
